Why is High-Intensity Low-Volume training the most efficient for muscle growth?

High-Intensity Low-Volume training revolves around performing every set till true muscular failure but the total amount of sets in a workout session is significantly lower. This way muscle growth stimulus is maximised. The reason for doing less sets is to avoid overtraining. Such intense sets in lower amounts are absolutely enough to gain the most results.
